I received an e-mail the other day that I am supposed to send to others for good luck. That's right God, I don't need you.
Anyway here's the story that accompanied that e-mail.

A girl became blind due to an accident. A guy started taking care of her. He loved her a lot.
One day she had an operation sponsored by a mysterious man. She could see with both eyes, hooray! She saw that the guy who took care of her was blind. He asked her to marry him. She hated him and asked him to fuck off.
The guy was sad and he said yes he will fuck off but please read this letter and passed her a letter.
In the letter, he wrote that he donated both of his eyes for her operation. AWWWW!!!

Why the hell didn't he just donate one eye? What a dumb story.

Shin Angyo Onshi : I am late reviewing this gem. Oh did I say...it was a gem... review over. If you can get past the confusing first chapter, you are going to be blown away as the story progresses. The storyline kind of reminds me of Stephen King's Dark Tower series. A mysterious anti-hero, a past that haunts him, a goal to take somebody down... the list of similarities goes on.

The artwork greatly improves as you progress through the chapters:

The only thing I could not stand was this lady's character design because it is really unnecessary (except maybe to boost sales?) :

If you can ignore this, you are really going to enjoy the story and it is going to keep popping in your head weeks after you are done. Thanks to Clarence for introducing me to this.

The Nine Inch Nails concert was good. Despite this being an outdoor performance, the sound was highly commendable . In fact this must be the best sound system I have heard from all the bands I have seen at Fort Canning Park so far.

Uzumaki: If you have read and liked Stephen King's Tommyknockers , you should definitely take a look at this horror manga. Like the small town of Haven in Stephen King's novel, the residents in Kurôzu-cho comes under a strange curse that lead many of them to do insane shit. The artwork is also not your common manga style and is really suitable for telling these kinds of stories. Very pretty too. 19 chapters with an additional bonus chapter.

Parasyte: Another 'horror' manga. This one can be best described as John Carpenter's The Thing meets Spiderman meets X-files. Though the plot is basically alien parasites invading human bodies and other living creatures, Parasyte is really a thought provoking series that discusses the food pyramid. The artwork here is plain but would not be considered ugly. Thanks to the crazy parasytes themselves and the violence, you will overlook the bland artwork. 64 Chapters.

Ah thank you faceless people of the Internet realm who bother to scan Japanese manga and translate them. You make me truly happy.

Detroit Metal City (DMC) : Negishi Soichi is a pansy and a loser with a haircut resembling a dick head and despite wanting to make and sell his shitty pop music, he can only gain popularity as Johannes Krauser II, the lead singer of a death metal band known as DMC.

What makes this manga an enjoyable read is that not many people outside the band knows that he is Krauser II and he wants to keep it this way. And throughout the story, Negishi is being this mild mannered boy and he believes that he wants to be true to himself even if he is more popular in DMC. Despite all this, like a real life loser, he can't help but get into situations where he is ignored, pushed over, ridiculed and even back stabbed. These are the times when his alter ego, the 'Demon King' kicks in and he will get the courage to say FUCK YOU!!! to the people who stirred his shit.

This story is all about the fucking irony. The world decides your true personality.
Series is ongoing.

There are some crazy fucking fans interviewed here that I don't want to be seen hanging out with but there are really some things I myself am guilty of. I can't seem to say 'Slayer' in a normal voice. I must actually scream the word out like I have been possessed by Linda Blair's demon. And when I am walking past a guy in a Slayer T-shirt, I will tell him that is a damn nice tee. I cannot help it. If I don't say it, my throat gets all irritated and itchy and I will feel like I need to take a shit.

Later on, they actually interview Kirk Hammett. For some reason he beats around the bush but all he is trying to say is Slayer fans are more hardcore than Metallica fans. The poor guy. Lars Ulrich must have standing across the room pointing a gun at him.

Ah, this is the damn album I have been waiting for from Metallica. Unlike St. Anger, this album IS a Thrash Metal record and in my opinion it is definitely on par with what the other old school bands like Overkill and Testament are releasing these days. It's time to get that Metallica T-shirt out of the cupboard again. Don't download this album. Go out and fucking buy it because they deserve it.

Until three weeks ago, I knew very little about Dragonball and my knowledge was simply the fighters' hair could turn $gold$ and they could sometimes transform into giant apes due to the moon and there were these magical dragonballs used to grant wishes. Being an avid reader of the manga One Piece and finding out that Eiichiro Oda is a big fan of Akira Toriyama's Dragonball, I was interested to see how much Akira's masterpiece has influenced One Piece. Thanks to this site I just finished reading all 42 volumes of Dragonball.

Dragonball ( Dragonball and Dragonball Z )review:

To be fair, the only manga I have read and am following these days are One Piece, Naruto and Full Metal Alchemist. Dragonball's universe and storyline is very simple compared to these comics and that is interesting. Storytelling has either improved or became more complicated in manga these days as their creators like to focus on back stories and Akira never did bother with all that hassle. For e.g. it is mentioned via speech bubbles later on in Dragonball Z, how Goku (our hero and a Saiyan) was sent to Earth and how Vegeta and his men ( Saiyans) came under Frieza's control, but do not expect to see whole chapters dedicated to showing the history behind the mighty Saiyan race (though that would have been nice). The story is always progressing forward except when the characters are training.

The art in Dragonball is simple and can be said to be 'Disney' like compared to say JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Despite the simplicity in character design, anatomy and action poses are all very well drawn. Akira's characters also occasionally change their looks. They tend to spot different hairstyles and yes, they do change their clothes from time to time. This makes the characters more 'realistic' and interesting to look at ( It may not be impressive compared to Archie and Marvel/DC comics where the characters do change their looks often. However in Manga, the characters usually spot the same look to make it easier for the creator and his assistant(s) to quickly work and release the comics on a weekly basis). This touch of 'realism' can also be seen in One Piece where characters change their clothing depending on the climate of the Islands they visit. The extent of Akira's imagination and to what he can draw and wanted to draw is also impressive. Dinosaurs. Androids. Anthropomorphic animals. Aliens. They are all represented well including the vehicles and environments.

Plot wise, the story arcs in Dragonball are more humourous and adventurous while those in Dragonball Z have a more sinister atmosphere. To better sum it up, Dragonball is like a RPG which has many mini side quests until the final big boss Piccolo arrives to lay waste to Earth. The manga starts off with Goku as a naive child who does not even know about women until he meets Bulma, a brilliant inventor who wants to use the Dragonballs to wish for the perfect boyfriend. The story just keeps getting more interesting to read as each new character introduced is always quirky. A shape shifting pig, a thief who is afraid to talk to women, an old skinny perverted martial arts master, a commander of the Red Ribbon army who wants to use the dragonballs to become tall.... the list just goes on. Besides the quest for the dragonballs, there are also these tournaments which showcase how strong our heroes have become and instead of some mindless brawl, they display some strategic fighting. These tournaments also give a reason for the fighters to train and learn some new moves and that helps to push the story forward. Overall the story in Dragonball is very well balanced.

If Dragonball felt like a RPG, Dragonball Z is more of a King of Fighters game. The series starts off well giving some insight to character origins as well as introducing new rivals for the main hero. The Frieza arc also exhibited many alien like elements which was different from the previous arcs in Dragonball which had a mystical underlying tone. Super Siayans ( Powered up Goku with golden hair) were also introduced as well as other races of fighters being able to change forms to increase their power. I am not sure if this was groundbreaking back then in the 80s but it certainly pushed the series to a whole new level.

The next arc talks about time travelling and the main villains are androids which further shows that in every arc Akira tried to do something different. Unfortunately the plot remained the same. Super strong bad guy comes. People die. Good guys fight bad guy. Goku/Gohan defeats bad guy. Dragonballs used to resurrect people who died. It should have ended there but the plot in the Buu arc followed the same formula. In fact a groan escaped me when Buu was fearfully introduced in the manga to be very powerful. Overall in 'Z' , dragonballs are so often used to resurrect people who were killed, Goku and friends cannot really be called heroes and fights are often just suicide missions. The flaws are very obvious since I did take a few days to finish reading 'Z' .

Despite the Dragonball series not being a true masterpiece, it is still a very innovative piece of work that has definitely inspired current popular selling manga. So yeah, read it and do not watch the anime because I heard it is crap and even worse, it is fucking censored.

A formidable warrior

This incident happened a few days back but the image has been burned into my retinas... the sheer amazing powers of the little warrior.

I arrived at the locker room. I needed to pee. I chose a cubicle. Floating in the toilet bowl water motionless, was a beetle. I started to pee. It moved! It was dashing about with its tiny legs. A few seconds later, I flushed. Goodbye Mr. Beetle. But alas, it did not drown and go to the animal's graveyard. It was still swimming about.

I washed my hands. I changed into my uniform. I needed to pee again. I chose the same cubicle and repeated the same things in the paragraph above. In the end, after being flushed twice, it was still struggling around.

My final thoughts as I left the toilet: if a radioactive beetle bit me, I would be a great swimmer.

Today I was over at Inokii and the shopkeeper told me that Black Sabbath was coming down Oct 27th. I was a little short on dough, so I did not pre-order the ticket but you can bet your rainbow (hee hee) colored ass I will be there.

The idea took off, he did well and then later greed blinded him and he sold his company to the devil for $487 million . I wonder what beer was he drinking.

Well, I started practising my anatomy drawing. It's important to have all the bloody basics and to achieve that, I bought a damn good anatomy book that costs me $76. *heart pain* I have been sketching since last night, and drawing the male form is a real headache. All those damn muscles especially those on the back. I also wish humans had tentacles instead of hands and feet.

After wasting lots of paper, I decided to try painting something on the comp without looking at any reference. It was supposed to be a normal looking lady but she ended up looking like an Asian hooker. I wonder why...

So far it does not look that bad but I will need to show some people and get some feedback. Took me close to two hours to finish this and it is only black and white... I hate hands.

She will nurse them for a month, until the sucking turns to chewing. Those damn tigers LOL. After breaking three slabs of concrete with his head, Chen Yunai, the manager said it was common for Chinese zoos to use surrogate dog mothers to nurse rejected tiger cubs. However the article does not mention why the tiger cubs are rejected in the first place. They probably brought dishonour to their family.

Bladder Wars

This morning I drank four cups of coffee, then bought a bottle of Coke, drank half of it then had sugarcane juice for lunch. Then I made my way to HSA building to donate BELAAARD.

Before donating BELAAARD, the doc would usually ask a few questions and today she asked if I could donate plasma instead of BELAAARD. The process would take around a hour and a half compared to the usual five minutes. I thought for a while. I have a 70 yr old bladder and the thought of sitting in one place for more than 15 minutes is actully a tough decision I have to make. I finally agreed. I told the doc I was going to take a leak first.

I entered the room, placed my bag down and sat on the couch/bed thingy, got up again, went out of the room to the toilet, took another leak and got back in. I was all set now.

There's a mini monitor for every 'station' and I could choose between Casino Royale, Eragon and Blood Diamonds. I declined the offer, though I have not seen any of these movies and instead chose to listen to METAL on my discman.

Some nurse lady explained to me the process and said it would take around 6-7 cycles. I was hoping 6 since my bladder was already sending danger singnals to my head. As the process started, I switched on my discman and watched Casino Royale on the monitor belonging to the next bed. I had no idea what was going on but Daniel Craig looks like he makes a good Bond.

When the 4th cycle was starting, the nurse came along , looked at the screen on the plasma extracting android and screamed excitedly, " Mwhahahaha, looks like it's going to be 8 cycles. Mwhahahaha!" Okay, that did not really happen, but might as well.

When the 8th cycle was starting, I asked the nurse as she creeped across me if it was the last cycle. " Yesssssss" she hissed "Next time , it will be 80 cycles. Mwhahahahahaha!"

After the Bladder Torture ordeal, I went to the toilet, took a leak, washed my hands, took a leak again, washed my hands and left for Chinatown to reward myself with a cup of coffee.

It is not surprising to live in an area for 14 years and see different shops come and go but there's a particular stretch where no business seem to last long enough. It's like the devil took a pee there. I have seen countless shops in that area and my favourite was the one that sold computer games. I used to hang out there after school everday, seeing people play Time Commando and Quake. That shop only lasted for 6 months.

Only one restarant dared to fight the curse, Jack's Place Steak House and Restaurant. I have never patronised there because I am a cup noodle kind of guy, and though I rarely see people walking in and out of there, that restaurant stood there for many years, until now. It has been replaced by an abomination.

Some unholy force has opened up the worse kind of toy/gift shop. I was shocked to walk by and see Hello Kitty merchandise displayed behind the glass walls. I was more alarmed to see a crowd inside the shop. As much as I dislike the cutesy stuff being sold, I wish the shopkeepers all the luck but I predict them being around for about 4 months.

I had some really nice dreams in the morning. But let's fast forward to me waking up in the afternoon and neighbours telling me that somebody got murdered in the opposite block around 2-3 am in the morning. Usually I am awake at that time but I had some ice-cream with a friend before that and ice-cream has this magical effect on me.

A few hours later, another neighbour tells me that the story was that somebody had committed suicide by jumping down. Unfortunately I had no desire to watch the news, so I had no idea if somebody died or is everybody under some mind control by the government.

A day has passed and right now I am waiting for more concrete news. I am quite shocked I did not hear any sirens in the middle of the night since I can hear a mosquito sucking on some unfortunate dude a mile away.

Usually I hate cellphone commercials because the truth is if you are ugly, an expensive phone is not going to get you a bloody model or a regular girl as a girlfriend, so I have no idea what the advertising agency dudes are smoking. Anyway I like stand up comedy though I don't watch it a lot and sometimes I try to look for comedians that can entertain me other than Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle. Tonight I discovered two comedians. The first would be Omid Djalili . Some of his jokes may be lame but when it comes to jokes about racism, the delivery is much better than Carlos Mencia faggot whom I am hating, not because it is cool to do so, but if saying 'Fuck' a lot is supposed to be funny , then I am the world's greatest comedian.

Oh yeah , anyway I like this other dude, Demetri Martin better. I would love to have him serenade me with some poems while I drown my face in beer.

I was at a bookstore with a friend today and he told me about this. Basically Penguin Books released 'My Penguin', a series of six Classics with plain white front covers and it is up to the reader to decorate them. At first I thought it was a smart way to not pay artists but after viewing the online gallery, it seems like it is a pretty cool idea. I found Colin Brush's 'Crime and Punishment' cover very nice and simple.

And now for some shitty stuff.

I was waiting at the bus stop after my friend left, lost in my own thoughts. I am aware a bus stopped near me and some passengers got out. As the bus was leaving, I heard a shout, turned and saw a lady caring lots of bags running towards the bus trying to stop it. As I slowly got back into reality trying to piece what is going on around me, the bus had already left and so I let my hands stay in my pockets. The lady smiled and shrugged at the others around her, accepting that she had shitty luck.

Then I heard loud noises coming from my right. 4 teenagers, two guys and two girls were talking in Chinese and English. One of the girls was talking loudly and I caught these words, "...should try to help to stop. Must help people. Just stand there. Must stop mah!'

I turned to look and the moment they caught me looking at them, their eyes darted away but clearly they were talking about me. I was too tired to give them the finger so I started to whistle loudly in a shitty tune so as to irritate them.

Oh well. If I was a teenage girl who received daily allowance which I spend on short skirts to show my legs, and , hey look everyone, an ipod in my left hand, I would also be bursting with energy to help everybody in the world.

ANYWAY, a friend of mine got me a ticket to see Dragonforce coming May 20th. Since I have not heard their songs before, I was happy that Inhuman Rampage, their new album came 'free' with the ticket and also not forgetting a poster which is right now lying under my bed. Sadly Inhuman Rampage did not hold my attention for long and I had to pop in Slayer to get back to reality.

A long time ago , some human beings and the Internet told me that Dragonforce sucked performing live so I checked Youtube to see if this was true. Hmmm, looks like Dragonforce better clean up their act before they find out that Singaporeans can scold vulgarities in many different languages.

I have always been fascinated by the cover of Show No Mercy. No matter how cartoony the Devil is drawn, it will always piss and frighten religious dudes.

I decided to draw a fanart based on that cover. Before I show you the final picture, let me frighten you with this image which I sketched and outlined before scanning.

A long long time ago, last December on the 21st to be exact, my Internet and metal buddy, Chris started a thread about unicorns for the sole purpose of trying to breed one so as to keep his girlfriends off his back. Some interesting images were posted and I actually tried to post them in my now uneditable blog, but alas. So as to fulfill all my duties before I die, I shall post the pictures for all in the Internet to see. Be aware about the cruel nature of unicorns!

But having some money is still nice. The only highlights of this month have been Sheryl's and my brother's birthdays and so far the rest of this month has been a total shitfest. A silly $50 fine from the Army ( My own goddamn fault) has dampened my spirits and I almost cried a fucking river when my discman fell off the table and is currently suffering from slight memory loss.

Not getting paid on time and soon not going to get paid at all is giving me a headache and late night surfing the Internet while drinking vodka is not improving the headache at all. The loss of a job is not at all bad but it was as unexpected as walking to class and getting shot by a crazy dude. The only dilemma now is, should I improve my portfolio and work on freelance projects or look for another permanent job. Only time will tell. Bookmark this blog to find out what the future has in store for me!

Making matters worse is the lack of inspiration. Sick and tired of staring at empty paper for the past few weeks, I have decided to start from scratch with simple sketches.

This is not a pretty picture but that is not a pretty face. I woke up this morning and drew my ugly mug which has not tasted coffee yet. A photograph of me taken by the CIA a month ago is beside for comparison. Overall it is good practise and I am very fond of the hair. INDEED!

Also I am officially announcing to the Internet that I am starting on my own current project titled 'Heavy Metal Fan'. The idea is to create an artbook of paintings and sketches based on my love for heavy metal. I have yet to draw anything because of the lack of inspiration but I have made some progress with designing the logo. This is version 1. Yay!

Edit version 2: 'A' is now easier to read and does not look like 'C'.

Also progress will definitely be slow since it is just a personal project that I can hopefully sell one day.
